Cape Mediation Seeks Candidates for
Membership on its Board of Directors

Cape Mediation is dedicated to providing dispute resolution services and mediation skills training in the communities and district courts on Cape Cod.   Cape Mediation, through its team of volunteer mediators, offers a variety of dispute resolution services to individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations.    The largest portion of our services address landlord-tenant disputes, small claims cases and certain civil cases referred to Cape Mediation by Barnstable District Court.

Outside the court system, through our Partnership Program, we work closely with organizations and small businesses to provide objective, expert analysis specifically related their particular needs.

Our Building Bridges – Not Walls workshop is designed for businesses and organizations to help their employees and members learn to manage conflict in a productive way, and as an opportunity for change and positive growth. We teach listening skills, share tools to prioritize goals and to understand conflict.

In our Youth Program, we provide conflict management tools, training skills and resources to schools and youth organizations to incorporate into their curriculum and programming.

Through our Mediation Skills Training Program we provide intensive skills-based mediation training and conduct workshops on conflict prevention and mediation that are available to businesses, churches, local town governments and professional associations.

We are seeking candidates for our Board of Directors.  A member of the Board of Directors is expected to:

  • To develop a genuine commitment to Cape Mediation’s mission
  • To prepare for, attend and participate in monthly Board meetings
  • To be an ambassador in increasing awareness of Cape Mediation in the Cape Cod community
  • To devote approximately 4-8 hours per month in support of Board responsibilities.

Exposure to non-profit fundraising is a plus.

Interested individuals can view a Board Member prospectus at:   http://capemediation.org/board-member-prospectus/

The selected candidate may, at his/her option, attend Cape Mediation’s 32 hour basic mediation training program.
